SIUC's Department of Africana Studies Names Winston Calvert a "Featured Alumnus"
Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Department of Africana Studies named Winston Calvert its "Featured Alumnus" explaining:
SIU alumnus Winston Calvert, originally a native of Carterville who minored in Black American Studies while earning his bachelor's degree in clarinet performance, has gone on to make waves outside of his original field of study while keeping Liberal Arts paramount in his professional and civic life.
Recently featured in St. Louis Magazine's "Generation Now" gallery, which spotlights young St. Louis Area professionals creating noteworthy careers, Calvert now works as a legal strategist at Armstrong Teasdale, while also serving as the president of the board of Prison Performing Arts. According to the STLmag article, Calvert says his interest in that role stems from it asking "interesting questions—of the actors and the audience."
